WEST BROOKFIELD — The West Brookfield Select Board voted unanimously to submit a roughly $502,000 regional Community Development Block Grant application covering four towns. A Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission planner said the joint application, which requires no local match, includes a $150,000 Depot Neighborhood Infrastructure Planning Study in West Brookfield, a $90,000 Senior Center Improvement Project in Barrie, a Memorial Park design project in Hardwick, and a $70,000 playground design project in East Brookfield. The board also appointed Teresa Kofsky as the town's Environmental Certifying Officer designee.
East Brookfield residents said a recent playground walkthrough drew "quite a big turnout for our small town." The application is due April 21, 2026, with awards expected by early fall.
